Tower Hamlets
The borough of Tower Hamlets is to the east of the City of London just north of the river Thames. It was formed in 1965 from the merger of Bethnal Green, Poplar and Stepney. The name comes form the early requirement of the local residents to provide yeomen for the Tower of London.
